JUNIOR RUNNING GROUP
The Junior Running Group is perfect for Kids of all ages and ability levels. a blended hour of exercises, running, strength and games are included in the sessions.

It was an eye-opening experience and privileged to attend a trail running camp lead by Australia's leading trail runner. Brendan is a great communicator who passionately shares his extensive knowledge and love for running. I left the camp equipped & inspired to run my first solo trail running event, all 100kms of it. With Brendan's help, I achieved the goal I set out for.
So impressed by my experience of Brendan's coaching I encouraged two of my children (aged 13 & 14) to attend a kids trail running clinic which he also led. My children, at different levels, were both inspired and enjoyed the clinic. I was greatly impressed to see how Brendan was able to connect with the all the children and once again pass on not only his knowledge but a passion for the sport.
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT GROUP
UP COACHING – JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT SQUAD (JDS)

Restarting Tuesday 1st May, UP Coaching will be hosting a weekly Junior Development Squad Session specifically aimed at children between the ages of 8-14y.
At present, the session locations will follow the locations of the adult Tuesday Performance Group Sessions (or as close as possible). As such, adults are able to take part in the regular TPG session while the Junior Session is on (parents do not need to be present at the Junior Session as the session is fully coached and supervised).
Sessions are always 4pm to 5pm this term, every Tuesday. Please see the separate post within this event for location details.
Junior Development Squad Sessions will rotate each week and will be a mix of track training, trail running, hills and cross country based sessions. All sessions will begin with a range of warm-up games, running drills, the main run session and conclude with cool down activities.
Sessions are open for all children with a passion for improving as runners. Sessions are focused on improving running speed, running pacing, running technique, endurance, overall fitness and of course having fun within a junior squad environment.
Sessions are hosted by qualified UP Coaching Athletics coaches through Athletics Australia; Ben Van Steel and Graham Hand. All coaches have obtained Working with Children Checks and have current First Aid Certificates.
The sessions will be run every Tuesday during NSW School Term 1 dates, starting from Tuesday 1st May and be concluding on Tuesday 3rd July. Please see posts within the event for the exact session location each week as locations vary.

Term: $80 for the duration of Term 2 (10 Sessions)*
Casual: $10 per session
*If Term fee is paid, children may also participate in the regular Thursday Track Training (TTT) sessions as part of this fee for the duration of the school term.

If this is your child’s first session with UP Coaching, and to save time, please print and complete Consent and Indemnity Form and bring to the session. This is only necessary once.
Toilets/changing facilities are available at venues.
Weather Policy: It’s always the individual athlete’s prerogative regarding attendance for the outdoor sessions during unideal weather. UP Coaching’s position is: ‘If it’s raining we’re training and heat we can beat, however, if it’s hailing we’re bailing and lightning is frightening so the run…there’s none!’

Saturday parkrun Sessions
Parkrun is a brilliant initiative and here at UP Coaching we love this concept. Athletes regularly attend parkrun for a tempo or time trial session which includes a thorough warm up, tempo paced 5km and cool down. Some athletes will run extra distances at tempo pace after the parkrun, for example those training for marathons and longer.
Parkruns are a great way to practise racing too! It gives you the opportunity in a relaxed, supportive environment to practise your racing and hone your pre and post race routines.
All parkrun sessions start at 7:40, with the 5km parkrun starting at 8am
There is no charge for the Saturday parkrun sessions. Please add UP Coaching as your ‘Club’ during the registration process.
- UP Coaching Premium Local Athletes: Included in coaching package
- UP Coaching Premium Distant Athletes: $5 per session
- Casual Athletes: $10 per session
Casual Athletes may purchase a monthly pass for $0, which entitles you to attend all weekly sessions. This is payable at the start of each new calendar month, at the first session you attend and is only valid for sessions within that calendar month.
There is no charge for the Saturday parkrun sessions as this is a Free Global Health Initiative.
